population education

"An educational program which provides for a study of the population situation in the family, community, nation and the world with the purpose of developing national and responsible attitudes and behavior towards that situation" UENSCO has defined it as population education in Bangkok. The definition clears that population education is such as educational process which makes people aware of how they can lead a happy and prosperous life by acquainting themselves with the condition of the population growth in a family, community. At the same time it makes people and country aware of the effect of the population growth. It also helps people take a decision when there is an increase in population growth. In terms of school education, population education can be cleared as "a process of developing awareness and understanding of population situation as well as rational attitude and behavior in the subject towards those situation by realizing their own responsibilities, so they can better deal with population problems for the attainment of quality life."
Population education can be said as family planning ; it is because in population education, the issues of family planning and the use of contraceptives is dealt with. It is also called sex education as things such as human reproduction, sex and sexual behavior are also incorporated into this subject. It is also sometimes called population statistics as we carry out the study of population components, processes and measurement in arithmetic and statistics. Whatever the people say with the time and circumstances it is not reality. It is neither sex education nor family planning. However, it does not mean that the matter related with sex and family planning is not included in population education. It is neither the study of population statistics nor population as they carry out their own goals and objectives.
To sum up, population education means multimensional education process of economics, social and environmental problem resulting from the change in population. It not only deals with the solutions of these problems and the adverse effects of increase in population growth but also feels responsible to tackle these problems accordingly.

Female education

Female education means the education of women.a nation consists of men and female.A nation cannot progress if women are not educated.Women form nearly half of the population of a country. If women are not educated, half of population is uneducated.A nation with half of its population uneducated cannot achieve any remarkable progress.Men and women are like the two wheels of a cart.A cart cannot move on one wheel. In the same way,a nation can march to progress if both its men and women are educated.
Female education has been neglected in our country since the earliest days.We find some isolated cases of educated women in the history of our land. But the majority of women were steeped in ignorance and illiteracy. Homes were considered to be the field of work for women. Women were forbidden to go out and work in other fields of activity. This idea has slowly changed among the educated people but the mass of the people still harbour this idea. We find some educated women in towns, but the village women are still uneducated.
Educated women are a great asset to a country. They can look after their children in a better manner. They can teach their children many good things. The education of a child begins at home. The mother is the first teacher. If women are not educated, they cannot properly train their children. Next,an educated women is a great help to her husband. She can share his work, lessen his sorrows and brighten his joys. A wife is the life-long companion of man.An educated wife help him in many ways. She can supplement his income by her earnings. An educated women can behave properly with her husband, children and other members of her family. She is polite and courteous to everybody.she does not use harsh words and abusive languages. She is not irritable and quarrelsome as an uneducated women.she keeps her home happy. She tries to love and please everybody.she is a friend, philosopher and guide to everyone in the family.
The people of a town have realized the necessity of female education. They said their girls to schools and campuses. But the villagers have not yet realised the importance of female education. Now we should turn our attention to the villages. This will prove an incentive to the villagers to send there girls to school.

Books and Reading

Happy is the man who acquires the habit of reading when he is young. He has secured a life-long source of pleasure, instruction and inspiration. So long as he has his beloved books, he need never feel lonely. He always has a pleasant occupation of leisure moments, so that he need never feel occupation of leisure moments, so that he need never feel bored. He is the possessor of wealth more precious than gold. Ruskin calls books, "king's treasuries" -treasuries filled, not with gold and silver and precious stones, but with riches much more valuable than these- knowledge, noble thoughts, and high ideals. Poor indeed is the man who does not read, and empty is his life.
The blessings which the reading habits confers on its possessor are many. Provided we choose the right kind of books, reading gives the highest kind of pleasure. Some books we read simply for pleasure and amusement- for example, good novels. And novels and books of imagination must have their place in everybody's reading. When we are tired, or the brain is weary with serious study, it is a healthy recreation to lose ourselves in some absorbing story written by a master hand.
But to read nothing but books of fiction is like eating nothing but cakes and sweetmeats. As we need plain, whole some food for the body, so we must have serious reading for the mind. And here we can choose according to our taste. There are many noble books on history, biography, philosophy, religion, travel, and science which we ought to read and which will give us not only pleasure but an education. And we can develop a taste for serious reading, so that in the end it will give us more solid pleasure than even novels and books of fiction.
Books are the most faithful of friends. Our friends may change, or die; but our books are always patiently waiting to talk to us.

Adult education

Adults are grown-up people. Adult education means educating those adults who are not educated. In some countries, there is little need for adult education because education is compulsory and everybody is educated. In some countries, there is need for adult education because the majority of the people are uneducated. In Nepal, many people are uneducated because education is not compulsory in our country.
Our country cannot advance until the majority of the adults are educated. It is the adults who form the working class. If they are not educated, they cannot understand the problems of our country. They cannot study and understand the development plans. We cannot expect them to co-operate in such plans when they do not understand them. Uneducated conservative and believe in superstitions and traditional methods. They do not know the changes that have taken place in the world. They are slow to move with the times.
Nepal is a country of peasants. The prosperity of our country depends upon the prosperity of our peasants. The peasants of our country are illiterate and ignorant. They follow the traditional methods of agriculture. They do not know the improved methods of agriculture. The production of their fields is low. They do not use improved methods of cultivation and new types of seeds and manure. They cannot market their products at a good profit. They do not know the importance of co-operative societies and banks. They do not know the importance of co-operative societies and banks. They do not know the importance of sanitation and health. Their houses and compounds are dirty. We cannot expect to improve the condition of the peasants without educating them.
If the adults are educated, they will educated their children, and education will spread in the country. Nowadays, only a small number of the children of our country go to schools. The majority of the children stay at home and help their parents at work. Such children will grow up into ignorant and illiterate persons like their parents. If the parents are educated, then only educated will spread in our country, and we can have a program of compulsory education for all children.
Therefore, adult education is very necessary.

Privatization in education

Every country in the world has its own education system. Their education system depends on according to their curriculum system. Curriculum is simply designed based on the nation, its natural things, historical values, cultural norms, and its political system and so on. Education plays the praiseworthily role in the development of the nation as well as in the personality enhancement of an individual. Simply to be said education is provided by the states to its people. But in these running days it is also provided by the Privates sectors. In context of Nepal, there are many private schools, colleges and universities. Privatization in education has enormously fascinated the need of the people concerned.
Mainly there are two types of academic institutions running in Nepal: Government aided and private institutions. Government aided institutions cover the entire areas of the kingdom whether it is a hilly or mountainous or terai, Region or a town or a village whereas private institutions mainly focus to the town. So such privates institutions are city centered institution, comparing to the government-aided institutions.
Private educational institutes are further divided into two categories; personal and institutional. personal institutions are for profit making and institutional are for providing services to the people. Nowadays it can be seen a rush of parents sending their children towards private schools and colleges. As of its result, private academic institutes are increasing rapidly.
Privatization in education offers a package of advantages like hostel facility, vehicle and transportation, day-scholar, monitoring, extra curricular activities, check and balance and so on. It is said that private institutions are for providing quality education. Private schools and colleges stop our money from going to foreign countries. Unless there are private academic institutions with their goodwill in a country, the country has to loose or spend more money for education which the citizens are getting it from the institutions aboard.
Nevertheless, privatization in education has its some demerits but we should ignore their contributions in education. More or less they provide quality education. Government should institutionalize them in a proper order. Bribery workers of the government office regarding educational sector should be punished. And private schools, colleges, and universities should not be commercialized in the name of privatization in education.

Technical education

Technical education denotes the knowledge and use of some special skills. Engineering, agriculture, weaving, carpentry come under technical education teaches us not only theory but also practice. Technical education is the reverse of academic education. Academic education gives us knowledge but it has no practical application. One who has received technical education is called a technical. A technician can make use or repair a machine. For example, a pilot can drive an aeroplane: a carpenter can make furniture.
Technical education helps the progress of a country. Technicians can construct factories, roads, bridges, canals, etc. They can drive trucks, trains, ships and aeroplanes. They can help to work mines and produce electricity. They can help to make use of forests. They can help the growth of agriculture and the production of raw materials. They can operate telephones and wireless sets. Technicians can help in every sphere of a nations productive activities.
Technical education helps a nation to be self-sufficient. If we do not have our own technicians, we have to bring them from others countries. If other countries do not help us, we cannot develop our industries and agriculture. If we bring technicians from abroad, we have to pay them a lot of money. Now-a-days, we are undertaking many development projects in our country, but we lack technicians. So many plans and projects have been postponed, or there has been very slow progress.
Technical education helps to solve the problem of unemployment. There is a great demand for technicians in our trades, industries and agriculture. A large number of technicians can be absorbed in various field. They do not have to remain unemployed like academic graduates and other educated persons. Even if technicians do not find employment, they can stand on their own legs. They can start their own industries or trades. In a developing country like Nepal, there is need of a large number of technicians, and there is no fear of their remaining unemployed.
It is high time we turn our attention to the establishment of technical schools and colleges. Technical schools like those at Thapathali and Balaju should be opened at different places of our country.

Education and development

Education hence is a major and greater part of development. Development means a change of anything positively. it's a regular process and never comes to its ending point. Education process itself is an important factor for the development of entire human civilization. Education enhances human status and leads everyone to prosperity. Education provides manpower and strengthens national unity and uplifts public awareness. The climax of science and technology has emerged as the contribution of education. So education and development are two factors that are interrelated to one another.
Both the administrative and technical manpower is required for the development of a nation. Technical hands and minds are regarded as the base-stone for development works. Engineers, doctors, electrician, workers and others contribute to the work of development in their respective fields. If a country has adequate technical hands and mind, the country itself can boost-up its development process properly, clearly and regularly.
Education helps people develop the national unity. It is a required factor to achieve the national motto of a state. Education promotes the public unity enhancing the degree of public awareness and, thus public awareness creates the national unity as they get sincere to the nation. People seeks their rights, duties, and responsibilities if education forces them from behind. that's why education is primarily needed for the development of a country. Education is an only means that brings positive changes to every individual, family, society and the nation as a whole.
Before summing up, education as means of positive construction and creative changes brings the harmony among the people in the entire world. It plays its supreme role to enhance both spiritual and physical development of entire human society. In order to develop oneself of any individual, spiritual change is a must as comparing physical change. that's why none can deny the education as a base and foundation stone of development, as education and development are the two parts of a coin.

Co-education for development of country

Co-education means educating boys and girls together. They attend the same schools or campus. There is no segregation between them. In many countries of the world, we find co-education. Boys and girls attend the same institution. In some countries, there are separate schools for boys and girls. Boys read in boys' schools, while girls read in girls schools.
In our country, many people think that boys and girls should not read together. Girls are spoilt in the company of boys. This is a traditional and conservative view. Now, time has changed, and new ideas are afloat. Many countries have realized the importance of co-education. We should also move with the times. Boys and girls have to live together and work together. They should be taught this from an early age. There should be no dividing wall between them.
Co-education teaches boys and girls to know and understand each other. They read together and play together. There is understanding and co-operation between them. They do not have an air of superiority of inferiority. They do not hate each other. Boys learn something from girls, and girls learn something from boys. There is healthy competition between them. Girls try to excel boys, and vice versa. This develops their potentialities.
Co-education provides better education for both boys n girls. As they read in the same school, there is a saving in expenditure. This may be utilized for providing better teachers and better equipment. If there are separate schools for boys and girls, there is duplication in expenditure. As poor nation that we are, we cannot afford to spend much. Co-education is economical and better.
General education should be made co-educational in our country. All existing schools and campuses should be made co-educational. This does not present any difficulty. New schools and campuses also should be co-educational. Purely boys or girls schools and campuses should not be allowed to be established. Some technical schools or campuses like those of engineering or military education may be meant only for boys. In the same way, there may be some girls schools or campuses like those of home science and nursing.
We should have co-education in our country. But it will take some years before we introduce it throughout our country. A long-established tradition takes time to be broken. Co-education has no meaning if we do not have girls in large numbers.

Introduction to education

Educationist regard men without education as mutilated beings, and with great force insists that to deprive men and women of the blessing of education is as bad as it would be to deprive them of eyes or hands.an uneducated man may indeed well be compared to a blind man. The blind man has a very imperfect idea of the world in which he lives,as compared with those who have the use of their eyes, and the uneducated labour a similar inferiority of mental vision.while the uneducated man has his mind confided to the narrow circle of such unintelligent labour as he is capable of performing, the educated man can look far back into the past and forward into the future.his mind will be full of feat events that happened along ago, about which history gives him information, and from his knowledge of past he is able to form conjectures about the social and political condition to which the world is progressing.the uneducated man seems in the heavenly bodies that illumine the sky by night, nothing but innumerable specks of light, some more and some less bright.
